Are you new to MyCareer? Or do you want to rise from an amateur to a pro-league player? So, here we're looking at ten fundamental tips that can help beginners know how to excel in MyCareer mode, and help them be successful, consistent players.
1. Play The Seasonal Goals
This year, 2K introduces the concept of Seasons to MyCAREER and the City, and each season will have unique equipment, cosmetics, VC, NBA MT, etc. The smart move is to check in every season and list the desired bonuses to achieve.
2. Check The Quest Journal
Quests are new to the game this year, and they provide a reliable source of VC, experience, and rewards. They require doing very particular things, like visiting people on different ship parts or hitting specific statistical markers within a game or season. Because the objective can be on the obscure side, check the quest journal often for updates.
3. Highest OVR Gets The Starting Job And Minutes
Those who want to start need their OVR to be higher than the starter on their team. Otherwise, there's going to be a lot of downtimes. As a backup, Even the league declaring the MVP to by the MyPlayer kept him on the bench. It's all about overall rating and nothing about talent.
4. Attending The NBA Combine
Regardless of whether you choose to go to college or head to the G League, you'll be given the option of attending the NBA Combine. Again, unless you're incredibly impatient, it's ill-advised to skip the Combine. Performing well in the Combine drills can skyrocket your draft status to a much higher projection. There are six drills in the NBA Combine:
• Vertical
• Running Vertical
• Lane Agility
• Sprint
• Shuttle
• Bench Press
The key to success in these drills is your ability to toggle between the left and right triggers on the controller. While the goal is to be the best at each exercise, that's a success. If you manage to place among the top 15, that's a success. But it's essential to take these exercises seriously, as they can significantly impact your draft status heading into the draft.
5. Focus on getting high teammate grades
The easiest way to gain a high game rating is to feed open teammates for assists or clean the glass for rebounds. Surprisingly, you don't receive that high of a boost by simply scoring yourself, so being a good teammate will help improve your overall game.
6. Don't Spend VC Until After The Main Campaign Is Finished
Note that once VC is used, it will not be returned. After going through the game once, players can choose which team they want to play for and skip the campaign when they make a new player. It's better to do this or play the MyCareer mode several times until you find a good situation. Just make sure the problem is set before spending a dime, real-life currency, or otherwise.
7. Quit Before A Bad Play
Players will need to win several of these college games to be considered one of the best draft picks. But winning can be challenging as a new player at this level. There is no way to restart a game or start it over in this campaign. So the smartest thing to do is right before a blown play quit and then re-enter.
8. Attend Every Practice
MyCareer delivers two huge reasons why skipping practices is not a smart move. First off, while potential attributes will likely only increase slightly, each drill delivers a large lump sum toward badges. Second, for MyCareer, the plot and story are buried entirely in the practices. Skipping them means missing the banter between the player and the coach entirely.
9. Fine Tune The Settings
There are some settings on the main screen, but MyCareer has its settings. Some of these categories can be changed during the game, like the volume and camera angle. However, game length, difficulty, fatigue, injuries, and more will need to be switched to the player preference beforehand.
10. Test Builds First
This is an essential piece of advice. There is no limit on making players, testing them out, and then fine-tuning them. Once the MyCareer path is started, the path is locked in. Some badges can be shifted, but the skill breakdowns, physical build, size, and attributes are locked in. It's highly recommended to try out everything. Try out every position and every build.
